FAQS
Costa Rica’s dry season, from December to April, is generally considered the best time to visit, offering sunny days and ideal conditions for outdoor activities. The green season (May to November) brings lush landscapes and fewer crowds. August through November marks whale season along the Pacific coast — an extraordinary natural experience.
Most visitors do not need a visa for stays up to 90 days. Travelers must ensure their passport is valid for at least six months beyond entry and may need to show proof of onward travel.
The official currency is the Costa Rican colón (CRC). US dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas, though carrying colones is recommended for smaller purchases and better exchange rates.
Pack lightweight clothing, hiking shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and a rain jacket for the green season. Don’t forget personal medications and travel essentials.
Costa Rica is generally safe for independent travel. However, guided tours offer valuable insights, access to remote areas, and curated experiences such as wildlife encounters and cultural immersion.
