“Pura vida. This life philosophy is taken to new levels by the whole team of over 30 wonderful people who live and work at SCP Corcovado Wilderness Lodge and its “pueblo”. As a 37-year-old university professor in Latin American Studies, I am blessed to have travelled all across the region. But this place was something else. Everything here – plants, animals, people – is superlative: the best, the greatest, the grandest, the kindest, the most generous. From the receptionists (the lovely Adán among others) who greet you with large umbrellas under a tropical storm, the incredible massage therapist (Fernanda) who sends you to heaven at the well-named inspiration point, the barman-fisherman (Eric) who regales you with delicious coctails and stories of his latest (giant) catches of mahi mahi fish, to the chef-extraordinaire, Pablo, whose cullinary creations are the best I have had in Costa Rica.“

“We (my husband, our 12 yo twin girls and 17 yo boy and I ) wanted to stay close to Corcovado National Park and it doesn’t get any closer than this lodge, as we took a hike with guide Manfred through the park where we saw all kinds of wildlife including monkeys and macaws down to the beach where we saw crocodiles. Our guides throughout our stay were Manfred and Mario. Very knowledgeable and personable. The resort is beautiful with lighted walkways, lovely spacious bungalows, a great bar to gather in, nice pools and beautiful gardens. The food is really good made to order, which I like in the all-inclusive setting, although the menu is limited. Everyone was lovely and nice and shared ways for us to see wildlife which is easy at this lodge. Coatis, monkeys, parrots, tapir (just relaxing and hanging out). The sunset margarita bar is a small, wonderful, spot and my kids loved all the fresh fruit drinks they ordered. We were 10 minutes off of seeing puma crossing right by the sunset bar. There are lovely trails around the property to seek out wildlife and explore. We also did a snorkeling tour, mangrove tour, and deep sea fishing. We were cautioned about swimming at the beach and the waves are rough and there is a rip tide there. I wish it were more accessible as it is beautiful and so hard for us to be right at the ocean and not spend a lot of time in it. We spent one afternoon hanging out in the waves, but were very mindful of needing to be very careful. If you are looking for connected wifi and things to do that aren’t nature focused this is not the place for you.“
